Capitol Records, LLC:
Founded as the first West Coast based label in the US in 1942, completed in 1959 Capitol is a staple of the recording industry.
Co-founded by American lyricist, songwriter, and singer Johnny Mercer, Glenn Wallichs’ (owner of Wallichs Music City-Premier Record Store, worlds largest specialist record store) and reached out to Buddy DeSylva (songwriter, and ex paramount movie producer) at Paramount Pictures for financial backing the record label with $25,000 a record label was born.
Based in Los Angeles, California they produce, distribute, sell and license music recordings and videos. Their first Artists included Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and The Beach Boys. They now provide online updates about music album releases, tour dates and TV appearances of their artists such as Emeli Sande, The Beatles, Elton John, Naughty Boy, Jennifer Lopez, Troy Sivan, Mary J Blige, 5SOS, Katy Perry, Sam Smith and Mary Lambert.
The major American record label is part of Capitol Music Group, which is an owned division of Universal Music Group (Parent Company).
